The Guest House

This being human is the guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
a momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all !!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.
Still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
Meet them at the door laughing
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes
because each guest has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
Rumi.

Rise.
Move around the center as pilgrims…
Being still is how one clay clod sticks to another in sleep
While movements wakes us up and unlocks new blessings.

Attention

Wherever your attention alights,
At this very point,
Experience.

The great Mulla Nasruddin

Nasruddin was throwing handfuls of bread all around his house. "What are you
doing?" someone asked.
"Keeping the tigers away."
"But there are no tigers around here"
"Exactly. Effective, isn't it?"

Nasruddin walked into a teahouse and announced, "The moon is more useful than the sun." "Why?" he was asked. "Because at night we need the light more."

Out beyond ideas of
wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field.
I'll meet you there.

Be with those who help your Being.

Om
That is the whole
This is the whole
From wholeness emerges wholeness
Wholeness coming from wholeness,
wholeness still remains.

The sound of the whole, peace peace peace

What happens doing the work

You can be a carpenter, you can be a dancer, you can be a webmaster - that does not matter.
What is important is that the work gives you bliss, gives you peace, brings you more awareness... whatever makes your life a life of gratitude will do.
The work is not important but what happens within you, doing the work; that is the decisive point!

Wage peace

Wage peace with your breath.
Breathe in firemen and rubble, breathe out whole buildings and flocks of
red wing blackbirds.
Breathe in terrorists and breathe out sleeping children
and freshly mown fields.
Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.
Breathe in the fallen and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.
Wage peace with your listening: hearing sirens, pray loud.
Remember your tools: flower seeds, clothes pins, clean rivers.
Make soup.
Play music, learn the word for thank you in three languages.
Learn to knit, and make a hat.
Think of chaos as dancing raspberries, imagine grief as the outbreath of
beauty or the gesture of
fish.
Swim for the other side.
Wage peace.
Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious.
Have a cup of tea and rejoice.
Act as if armistice has already arrived.
Don't wait another minute
